Abby’s Turn

Editor for a Passion Project

In January 2022, I was prepping for a freelance project when MindBodyGreen, with Art Director Michelle Nahmad at the helm, reached out with a challenge: design and animate a spotlight piece for Kori Krill Oil. The deadline was the end of February and I was already booked, but the opportunity was too good to pass up.

With guidance from my mentor Amy Wallace, I built a small but mighty team. I recruited motion designer Christine White, storyboard artist Sophie Rick, and character designer Henry Nunez. Together, we divided and conquered: I developed the overall look and feel of the piece, designed the final frames, and set the creative direction, while the team brought those elements to life through storyboards, character work, and animation.

It was my first time managing an animation team while balancing another freelance commitment, and it became a masterclass in collaboration and leadership. What started as an impossible ask turned into a project I’m deeply proud of — one that proved the power of teamwork, trust, and saying yes when the stakes are high.

The results

✱a polished, narrative
driven animation that elevated MindBodyGreen’s brand storytelling and highlighted the power of bold, collaborative design.

VFX Exploration

Created exploratory VFX samples to showcase echo treatments and tonal direction for the team. While we ultimately landed on a lighter, more psychedelic dreamlike look, we kept the echo effects as a key visual element.
